#78 - The Spaghetti Story circa 1993
It may be hard to believe but one of my favorite memories is actually hearing a story told by someone else. So Jeff, Craig, Jim P, Brian, etc. and I are all talking telling stories when Zippy chimes in with "I've got a great story!" and starts to laugh just thinking about it.
Here's the story as told by Zippy. "So I invited Chuck over for dinner one night. Chuck loves spaghetti so I fix him spaghetti. I cook the noodles and then take the sauce out of the fridge and dump it right on the spaghetti. Mix it up and give it to him. Chuck was PISSED! The spaghetti was cold!" And then Zip proceeds to laugh and laugh. His good friend Chuck tries to help him out with "He didn't even heat up the sauce. Just boom, dumps it on the spaghetti. I guess he thought the hot noodles would heat up the sauce. I DON'T KNOW."
Then it began. Craig couldn't contain himself. "Zippy, THAT STORY SUCKED. That's the worst story I've ever heard. What are you thinking?" Everyone then joined in railing endlessly on Zippy for telling such a freaking lousy, incredibly lousy story. Chuck even joined in with "They're right Zip, that story sucked"
The story became legendary. We've made Zip tell it to dealers in Vegas, people at Hoop It Ups, chicks in bars. "Tell the spaghetti story, tell the spaghetti story..." has become our mantra whenever Zip meets new people. The lame thing is he still tells it with gusto, as if it's actually a good story.
I'll never forget that first time I heard it! Zip what were you thinking????
