Jeff Cadle Stories

As the Millenium changed I sent out to my friends a listing of my Top 100 memories of my first Millineum. Jeff played a prominent role in many of the memories. I've included several memories/stories about Jeff in this site for your amusement. Please feel free to email me any stories or memories you have of him and we'll add it to either the Stories or the Blogs page appropriately.

#66 - Steve the Gecko - 1989

Published June 4, 2006 1:45 PM by Phil Parker

It was the summer of 1989 and Craig and I were unemployed and nearly penniless, Jeff and Jim P both were working and having a good time. So what should we do? We went to Hawaii!

While in Hawaii lots of fun adventures happened, some of which can't be told in a general e-mail like this, but here's a few (don't miss #12):

  1. In shuffleboard the unemployed slobs beat the working stiffs 21-3
  2. We drove with Jeff to the far side of the Island to watch him surf. As was his habit in those days he lost his wallet in the surf.
  3. We had tons of amazing beer fights in the room. At one point we took turns standing on our heads and letting each other pour beer on us.
  4. Jeff cut his lip on a beer bottle that was broken when he opened it. Craig didn't take the opportunity to file a lawsuit over it.
  5. Craig and I drank beer while underwater snorkeling in Hanama Bay
  6. I passed out with a hamburger in my hand dangling off the balcony. Jeff repeatedly asked if he could have the hamburger and eat it. I refused vehemently! The next morning Jeff woke me and I still had the hamburger in my hand so I ate it.
  7. We got a nasty call from the hotel for BBQing in the room.
  8. We developed 3 rolls of film and only 3 pictures were not of us in the room drinking.
  9. While playing in the hotel pool we found a dead gecko at the bottom of the swimming pool. We, of course, named it Steve and took turns putting it on our tongues and having our pictures taken with it in our mouths. We also tortured some poor Japanese women by forcing them to have their picture taken with us while we had the Gecko in our mouths. We the froze Steve in a block of ice in the hotel room.
  10. Craig, Jeff and I frolicked in the surf at night.
  11. We drew tattoos on each other with ink pens.
  12. We attended a Luau. At the Luau Craig and I snuck on-stage and dances our way across it. Jeff kissed a 60 year old woman (see picture above). On the way home the bus driver pulled over on the side of the freeway and threatened to throw us off the bus because we were singing to loudly and the wrong song.

It was a blast!
