#31 - New Years Trips to Reno
From 1985 through about 1990 we took an annual trip to Reno for New Year's eve. The liquor consumed, the people met, the strange incidents, the joy and fun all made these annual rites of midwinter truly the hell trips of dreams. I'm only going to mention a few of the 100's of incidents (and I'm saving one truly unbelievable/embarrassing one for later)
- Jeff and Craig met up with a strange man and wandered the city "lookin' for the babes" who according to the strange man were "at the Bus Stop". Finally Jeff and Craig ditched the man when he stopped to get some smokes.
- As we walked the street a man pulled a few of us aside and in a discrete voice offered to sell us some Peruvian Flake. We were naive and very loudly saying "Peruvian Flake? You have Peruvian Flake? What's that?...and on and on" He was getting perturbed trying to get us to be quiet. Finally Craig chimed in with "Hey, I think it's drugs. Let's get out of here!" and we fled.
- 10-15 of us surrounded and old lady named Gene and began Dancing in a circle around her and chanting her name over and over again. We declared that Gene was the center of everything. No idea why but it certainly freaked her out.
- Bathtubs overflowing with Ice/Beer and Champagne.
- Rooms stuffed with 20+ people.
- Roaming the streets/casinos with nose makers screaming at the top of our lungs "Merry New Year, Merry New Year!"
